Assistance Programs

Bags of Love

Our Summer Food Program for families that need supplemental assistance to keep their children fed during the summer went very well thanks to Kim Maddox, our program coordinator. Ms. Maddox coordinated our meal preparation teams and our delivery teams and created a smooth running, efficient machine!  In preparation for the 2013 program, we estimated we could handle 500 lunches a week.  After the survey taken in May, during our regular monthly meal delivery, we found our distribution sites held 695 children that needed food support.

Our Help Us Help Them program recevied enough peanut butter and jelly to last the entire summer. This was quite a feat as our program continued to grow each week.  We ended the summer averaging 726 lunches every week for 11 weeks. Our partners, the GA Mountain Food Bank and 1st Christian Church made our grand finale come true by making possible a local food bank for our clients. We received a double blessing when Country Boy Trailers showed up with a surprise delivery of bread! Enough bread to distribute after the tractor trailer pulled out!  Thank each and everyone that helped in this effort.

We are very proud of the caliber of students that applied for our 2013 scholarship produced by the Forsyth County (GA) Public School System. The applications were reviewed in three categories:  scholastic merit,  community involvement, and financial necessity to determine the 5 finalist that would advance to the interview round. The scholarship was awarded June 15, 2013, at our monthly Dinner for the Hungry.  We wish you all the very best life has to offer..
